As a kid I was always drawing and making things. But I made up my mind to be a writer because my grandmother was a writer and I REALLY REALLY loved my grandmother.
Looking back though, it's pretty clear that my artwork showed more natural talent than my writing.
3rd Grade Poem:
Dear Dad
Get Well Soon
Don't be a Goon
It is ick
When you are Sick
Yet I stuck with my plan, spending 20 or so years as a newspaper reporter, writer and teacher. Now, finally, I'm back where I started, drawing and making things. Which is what I was meant to do.
I have no formal art training. Usually I paint on scrap wood my husband finds for me.
My paintings and other artwork are shown in galleries in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Alabama, and France.
'I found the work of a new artist from Rhode Island, B. Lucy Stevens to be original and refreshing. She has the vision and is edgy. Look for her to be recognized here, even though her work is already appreciated, In France. Very brute and beautiful work.'
